Critique Of Books Widows & Orphans (Rachael Flynn #1)
D. fiction, mystery, lawyer, murder, brother, fanatic, series, (Rachel Flynn, #1)

I have read many of Susan Meissner's books and loved them. This one, not so much. It didn't draw me into the plot, especially for a murder mystery. Frankly, I was disappointed with the book. I kept reading thinking I was, as some point going to really get into it, but that wasn't the case with this one.

An interesting character development but a dark topic of motivation, murder, and justification. Heavy on religious scrupulosity which was shown to be a virtue and not the mental illness I believe it to be. Overall, interesting and I will read the next one.

I'm really liking this author, who is truly Christian and also a very good writer. She isn't too graphic, and doesn't force God down anyone's throat. She knows what she's talking about and I feel has a deep love for the Savior.Don't know and don't care what religion she belongs to, she knows God.

I can happily add Susan Meissner to my list of new authors I like!!From back cover:"He's confessed to murder, Rachael! He told the police he killed someone!""When attorney Rachael Flynn's mother calls her with the news that her ministry-minded brother has been arrested, Rachael at first takes it in stride. After all, Josh has been arrested before for blocking entry to abortion clinics, resisting arrest, obstructing the legal process, interfering with police procedure, trespassing, breaking and

Different format than her 4 other books I've read, but I loved it!

I had read Fall of Marigolds and Stars over Sunset Boulevard and thought they were both excellent. One of the reviews mentioned that this one was an earlier novel and not quite as good as her later novels. But others liked it. I thought I would not like it but I ended up finishing it and thinking how much I like this author that I just discovered, thanks to my daughter.
