Everyone knows Dr. Watson is Sherlock Holmes' right-hand man - so when he goes missing, it's a shock. Even Sherlock hasn't, well, the slightest clue as to where he could be. Enola is intrigued, but weary; she's still hiding from her older brothers - and getting involved could be disastrous. But when a bizarre bouquet shows up at the Watson residence, full of convolvulus, hawthorn, and white poppies, Enola must act. She dons her most discerning disguise yet to find the sender - and quickly, for Enola knows the blossoms symbolize death! Hold your breath, because Enola's about to take it away. The stakes are higher and the mystery deeper than ever before in this third installment of this Edgar Award nominated, critically acclaimed series.

Enola Holmes only met her brother Sherlock's friend and chronicler a few times, but she was favorably impressed by his kind manner and fatherly air. So when Dr. Watson goes missing, she decides to find him.Cyphers and the language of flowers. False names and false lashes. Spotlights and rooftops. Asparagus and laurels. I'm wholly enthralled with this series. Quick-paced and clever. Absolutely a favorite! These books are just fun. I keep reading them in a day, but they're built for speed and for entertainment. They're brilliant in their mysteries, foreshadowing, and characters. This one was no different. I look forward to the next.

I should couch my language with faint praise saying sniffy little things like, It seems that Ms. Springer has truly found an oeuvre that will suit some out there. In "The Case of the Bizarre Bouquets" our main character, Enola, is shocked to find out that a close family friend, Doctor John Watson, has disappeared. Before she can begin investigating, she must first figure out how to disguise herself because she is in hiding from the overly watchful eyes of her older brothers. Chaunticleer's shop has everything a great detective would need to create convincing costumes. With
I love these books. Here are several reasons you will love these books for middle school readers. 1. They are short (all 7th graders want a short book). 2. They are written at a 7th grade reading level (Lexile 1000), which is really hard to find in today's fiction publications. 3. They are witty, clever and and remarkably well written.I can't wait to read book 4!
3.5 stars. Still a very charming series, all the more so because of it's dark edge. It always works that Enola is successful despite the large age difference between her and Sherlock because Sherlock overlooks the female arts. Would the "real" Sherlock have done that? Who knows? But this Sherlock is clearly characterized and consistent and it works that he wouldn't notice or take seriously things like the flowers in a bouquet, or the corset and bustle in the first book, etc. It gives Enola an
