The first in a 6 part novella series brought to life by the magnificent mind that is Lucian Bane. The first part of a journey of empowerment and freedom.Let me start by saying how much I loved the MAGNIFICENT prologue, it gave depth to one of the main characters, it gave me a flavour of what his life is about and how he has come to this point. I LOVED the idea that it gave me insight by introducing other significant characters from Dante's past. I loved it and the fact it gave me such depth in a short but wonderful 2.5 pages it is BRILLIANT.
His skin bore the scars of a life's journey, a journey most would hope never to have to take. Fifteen years in prison, fifteen years of education and self awareness and now, now he is free. Dante Baston ... A free man, at last ..... Or is he ?
Rin Bernard, a sweet woman, held in the clutches of the abusive tyrant of a man - her husband, Daryl Bernard, a man consumed by religion, it would seem consumed by so much more. Rin just wants to be his wife, to be good, everything he needs and mercy, how does she try. She feels, she feels the needs of a woman, the sins of flesh .. She is a bad wife, she must repent.
Dante moving forward with life gets the call he has been waiting for, the pay check that can set him free, finally. The job is simple, to heal a woman, so sick and so broken, he is her last hope, in every way.

This is a great addition to the many titles that Lucian Bane has in his collection and is a platform on which to explore. A fantastic start to a series.

This book SO pissed me off! First that sorry excuse of a husband! If I didn't know this was a fiction book I would swear it was real, I've seen this before and it makes me angry! Dante kudos to him for getting himself straightened out but DUDE really?????? NO NO NO OFF LIMITS!After getting a teasing glimpse of the depth of each of the characters and the introduction to the story; I find myself pulled in and wanting to know more about what motivates the characters and how the story progresses. I'm looking forward to each installment of the story by this passionate and talented author.
this was crazy as hell-not at all what i was expecting. I liked Dante, though I had questions (view spoiler)[ how was he getting bloodwork results? (hide spoiler)]The husband was just beyond anything in asshattery I have ever witnessed. Hope there might be some death coming his way. I felt badly for Rin, but also got frustrated with her stupidity, or maybe that's not fair-she's not stupid, she's brainwashed and weak. It did get frustrating, to listen to her defending some of this whack shit. i
