What to say about this book that would give it justice.It was an ... emotional read. The main character, Alex Tate, goes through so much in this book, the good, the bad and the ugly. Although the good only starts happening near the end, it is Worth reading the whole novel to get to that part.I've read other peoples' reviews, here on Amazon and also Goodreads. Most of the reviewers stated they did not like Alex, that she was difficult to like, to feel empathy for. So I was beyond excited when I heard that there would be a companion book and I am even more happy to say that Where Silence Gathers is a wonderful companion to Some Quiet Place!In Some Quiet Place, the main character can't feel emotions but in Where Silence Gathers, Alex not only feels emotions but she calls Revenge her best friend. I could go on with the comparisons to keep the element of familiarity alive but honestly,

I received an ARC through NetGalley.Where Silence Gathers could be renamed to Where Sleep Gathers. I found this book sooo boring! I actually did fall asleep while reading it. I am not joking. I need to start with a disclaimer that I was a huge fan of Some Quiet Place, so my reading experience of this book was all about whether it lived up to that stunning debut. Does it succeed? On many levels, yes it does... and in some ways it's an even better novel. It doesn't have the same emotional intensity and epic scope of Some Quiet Place, and I think that makes it a four star rather than a five star read for me.
