Long book that was a little hard to get through but definitely worthy of its acclaim. Loved the mixture of fantasy and reality. Read it pre-Colombia of course so maybe I'll re-read in Spanish.Awesome book, my favorite
Harold Bloom was an American literary critic and the Sterling Professor of Humanities at Yale University. Since the publication of his first book in 1959, Bloom has written more than forty books of literary criticism, several books discussing religion, and one novel. He edited hundreds of anthologies.Brilliant characterization, and piercingly insightful in some parts. The idea that time moves in circles is beautifully portrayed. The author makes you move over the hundred years with him, as if you were undergoing a past life regression therapy session- only, you're regressing into the Buendias' past. The discovery in the end left me strangely wistful. Perhaps the first novel from the magical realism genre which I managed to finish. It's a trying read considering its slow pace, but manages to
the cyclical nature of life.
I've read this book 3 times now and it never gets old. I love it.
