Commentary Supposing Books Because You Love to Hate Me: 13 Tales of Villainy

Leave it to the heroes to save the world--villains just want to rule the world.

In this unique YA anthology, thirteen acclaimed, bestselling authors team up with thirteen influential BookTubers to reimagine fairy tales from the oft-misunderstood villains' points of view.

These fractured, unconventional spins on classics like "Medusa," Sherlock Holmes, and "Jack and the Beanstalk" provide a behind-the-curtain look at villains' acts of vengeance, defiance, and rage--and the pain, heartbreak, and sorrow that spurned them on. No fairy tale will ever seem quite the same again!

Assessment Of Books Because You Love to Hate Me: 13 Tales of Villainy
WrensReads Review: I just want to voice that I, and I only because this is my opinion alone, did not like the style of this book. I would have rather the authors and the booktubers write one-inclusive story together instead of the responding the booktubers did to the authors story. It wasnt for me, and that really shows in my ratings.01. The Blood of Impuriv ★☆☆☆☆By: Renée AhdiehFeaturing: Christine RiccioAbout: an ambitious dark lordI dont feel as if anything actually happened in this story

The Blood of Imuriv by Renee Ahdieh, prompt from Christine Riccio - I hate to say this bc Renee is my #queen but- M E H- This one definitely had LOADS of potential, but it fell so FLAT and was so anticlimactic - And it was wayyyy to short, seriously it was like 9 pages long, excuuuse me- Soz @ renee, I still love you, we can forget this ever happened 2 stars Jack by Ameriie, prompt from Tina Burke- Surprisingly, this was ~*entertaining*~- Loved the dark twist at the end (bc im a bitter person)

As with any anthology or collection of short stories, there are going to be some you like and some you don't like, maybe even some you love...and some you hate (see what I did there?). That's exactly how I felt with this anthologythough I will say there were none that I vehemently hated, just maybe didn't *love*.If you haven't heard about this book, here's the lowdown: it's a collection of 13 stories written by 13 (primarily) YA authors based on prompts from 13 booktubers/book bloggers. The

2.5 stars.Listen, the book is literally called Because You Love to Hate Me because everyone (including me) loves to hate it.IT SUCKS.Im giving this 2.5 stars overall (because I did the mathyes, I know, shockingand thats the average of all my individual ratings for the stories). I enjoyed a few stories, but in general?? I did NOT like it at all. It took me six days to read this, and I was supposed to take three days. The Blood of Imuriv by Renée Ahdieh // ★★☆☆☆- this was so pointless- rolling my

I just don't think this was for me

3.384/5 starsVillains, the deliciously wicked. We love to hate them and they hate to be loved, if only because being hated frees them from having to be good.I read this book solely because of Victoria Schwab, even postponing my weekly watch of one of the greatest shows, The Bachelorette, to read it, so if that's not showing you how dedicated I am to my favorite author, I don't know what will?I think to celebrate this villain anthology, I have decided to include a GIF of my favorite "villain" aka

i have very mixed feelings about this anthology. i probably expected too much from this? idk, i love villains and anti-heroes especially when they're well-written, when they're charismatic and sassy/petty, morally grey or immoral at all. villains and anti-heroes who are likable af and you love them SO MUCH but at the same time you understand that you're probably not supposed to love them, they're like EVIL or smth (missy/the master from dw is my most recent example tbh). i expected this to have
