I don't see how someone as smart as Klara cannot see past Radulf. I mean, what is her deal? I was gripped with suspense the entire book, but I was angry at the fact that Klara played innocent when she wasn't. The setting is great and the atmosphere is gloom-and-doom. I enjoyed the surreal backdrop of the novel and particularly find value in the fact that every person who reads it will get a different perspective on what the author was trying to portray in these characters.My daughter is going to college this fall. I am very skeptical about her leaving home because I know how I used to be when I was younger. I have tried to worn her about how young, attractive men really think, but she doesn't seem to understand what I am trying to convey to her. After I read this book, I made her read it and she was floored. It put some sense into her head and I feel good about that. She is taking the book with her to college because she loved it so much.
GREAT BOOK.
Sexy and brutal. I am a woman and I like how Klara was depicted. To many people play games on one another and this book nailed it. Had to put it down a few times because it hit too close to home sometimes, but nonetheless it was so real. Radulf though dashing and smart, he is no different than guys today. He is a new modern villain I think will be remembered in literature.
The author touches on a very delicate issue regarding sexual-novelty and ego. There is no sympathy in the novel which gives it great uniqueness over other modern novels being written today. I found some parts of the novel disturbing because it is written so cleanly and pristine. There is absolutely nothing vulgar or offensive about how the subject matter is presented and that was very striking. I found myself halfway through the book thinking I was lost in a world of realism and warning. It was

I should start by saying that I won this book in a giveaway here on Goodreads. Honestly, I don't know what I was expecting when I first started because the description is slightly vague, but I ended up spending most of the day finishing it in one sitting because I didn't want to put it down. If you love darker books like me, then The Sorrow's Garden is perfect for you. The writing was easy to follow and I found myself quickly attached to, yet slightly horrified of, the main character.
