Taking place during season six (of the TV show), between the episodes Frontierland and Mommy Dearest, Supernatural: Night Terror finds the Winchester brothers in Clayton Falls, Colorado, investigating a strange series of events. The town drunk claims a giant Gila Monster chased him into a dumpster, then mysteriously disappeared. A group of kids are hunted down by a headless horseman, then one is mowed down by a driverless car. Giant spiders hunt down human prey, a Nazi zombie invasion threatens,This one maybe isn't for the weak stomached. It was very descriptive. Maybe unnecessarily so but it painted a hell of a picture. It seemed to me that the book focused more on Dean than Sam and there were a lot of other point of views. I didn't like the fact that Sam was dreaming about Soulless Sam but only because it wasn't addressed in the show. Despite that I really enjoyed this one. It had a really great storyline and interesting monster.
I want to start off by saying I don't like giving bad reviews, I don't. However this book was painful to get through. I ended up reading this book out loud and not only did I find the punctuation incorrect and lacking, (OMG use a comma normal people have to breathe) the EXTREME over usage of the words 'said' and 'asked' was irritating to say the least. For a tie-in novel, this one is pretty damn good. It turned out to be an excellent choice for my October reads. Night Terror is a basic horror monster of the week plot. The monster is compelling and the writing and kills are gruesome and at times hard to read. You can tell this was the writers strength and what he enjoys writing. These scenes are fun and dark. Plot I would say is what is lacking in this book. Sam and Dean arent characterized as fully as i might have liked, and part of the problem with this is that they dont do much to investigate or solve the case. They mostly go from gruesome scene to
