Playing with Fire (Tales of an Extraordinary Girl #1)
Fun reading. I love the elements and I love that her powers are connected to her emotions. But our lovely heroine is just an ass. She's jealous, insecure, and annoying. I wanted her to be stronger. I can accept flawed individuals. I can even accept her using her "assests" to get her way. What I couldn't deal with was the whining. I wanted to hit her. I loved her snarkiness and quick comebacks. She could have been such an awesome character and she dissapointed me! Other things I loved where the

The challenge is hosted by Wendy the Super Librarian.I bought Playing with Fire from a used bookstore almost five years ago right after discovering Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld series. I was intrigued by the blurb yet, like so many books that I am reading for this challenge, it got lost on my TBR shelf and I never picked it up. I have three other Gena Showalter books on my TBR shelf so I thought this would be the perfect
Just when I think that Gena Showalter cant get any more clever than she already is. I go and read Playing with Fire and I find myself totally giggy. The whole story from beginning to end was exciting, it was a wild ride that had a few moments of down time, that were much needed mind to you, then kicked back into gear with nail biting scenes that you could totally see play out in your head. Think of X Men meets The Breeds. Only because they created a shifter out of Rome, and the government is at
If you are looking for a fun, playful book that features a couple with so much chemistry you wont want to stop reading, this is the book for you. Seriously, this book will have you laughing out loud (literally) or breathing a little heavier with every few pages (perhaps both, at times). In some ways, Belle and Rome, our heroine and hero, very much remind me of Cat and Bones from Jeaniene Frosts Night Huntress series. They have great lighthearted banter, zinging one-liners and an electrifying
I had so much fun reading this book.Full of entertainment and excitement with a great love story.
I really love Showalter's Lords of the Underworld series so I'm sorta working my way through her backlist. Playing with Fire came out a couple years back and at the time I remember it getting a generally good reception around the review blogs. Although I can't say as it hit as high for me as The Lords, I found it to be an all right read- but probably only if you're a hardcore paranormal romance fan like me!In Playing with Fire our heroine, Belle Jamison, is secretly dosed with a formula that

Earth, Wind & Fire aren't just a band anymore . . . Used to be my greatest achievement was holding a job more than three days. Now suddenly I can shoot fireballs, chill your drink, or blow-dry your hair at fifty paces with a blink of my eye! It all started when this crazy scientist dropped something in my Grande Mocha Latte. Of course I got wicked sick. Next morning I'm waking up with this total hottie bending over me. He tells me 1)his name's Rome Masters, 2)he's a government agent and 3)I can control the four elements with a thought. He seems even less pleased by my (apparently irreversible) transformation than I am . . . Because now he'll have to kill me.Define Books In Favor Of Playing with Fire (Tales of an Extraordinary Girl #1)

5+ stars Paranormal RomanceHappy, happy, joy, joy...I loooved this book! I havent laughed out loud so hard at such clever, hysterical writing, fun, quirky characters, and sarcastic, snarky dialogue since reading the last book in Jeaniene Frosts Night Huntress series, but Gena Showalters Playing With Fire delivers the goods, in spades! And Belle and Rome are another Cat and Bones type duo! 24-year-old Belle Jamison isnt having a very easy time lately. She cant seem to hold down a job for veryFun reading.
