Corsair is the sixth book in the Oregon Files series by Clive Cussler and Jack Du Brul. The Oregon Files follows the adventures of the Oregon, a seemingly dilapidated ship packed with sophisticated equipment and a wide array of weaponry, which is crewed by the best and brightest all overseen by Juan Cabrillo, an ex-CIA officer with a flair for the dramatic.The US Secretary of States plane has crashed on the way to a peace summit in Libya. It is initially assumed that she has died in the crashCorsair is, by far, one of the best Cussler books I've read. I was let down a while ago by "Pirahna" when Lawrence Kensit (the main villian-supposedly to have been extremely intellectually gifted) was so predictable and yet so naive. Combining crystal-clear descriptions of action scenes and an exquisite choice of diction, the whole novel is a coherent and exciting read that got me on the edge of my seat.
It almost looks like Jewel of the Nile - but change the time (Islamic terrorists ) and change duo Katreen Turner and Michael Douglas with A Team mixed with Mc Giver and Power Rangers Car inside a car - boat inside a boat ) and you will kind of digest the story of this book. It was fun to read it but as quickly as I read it I will forget what was it all about.
What I like about Clive Cusslers books is they always opening with something of the past that relates to whats going on in the present. I have not check the facts in every book of Cusslers I have read but the ones I have the facts in the past are correct it is what he does with them in the future that the fun begins. Corsair is the 6th novel in the Oregon series and its about a battle with the Barbary Pirates. As a fan of Navel History I am aware of the role the United States Navy and Marines
Books which Clive Cussler write are for me those comfort books. I know everything will end well and I know that I will enjoy them.A extra in his books which I always enjoy is the different periods in the story.Pirates, the 'American' Lafayette...they're all part of the past and make up our history.
