Article About Books Leonard Cohen: Poems and Songs
This one is hard to review. I started it early in the month and kind of trickled through it a little at a time, which I think is a reasonable thing to do with a collection of poems. I am a big Leonard Cohen fan. I don't think many people who pick this up wouldn't be. It's a beautiful little printing, and it's cool having the lyrics to some of his more popular songs in one nice volume. But man, as much as I enjoy his music, his poems are just... ehh. One word: amazing 😍

What a great collection of everlasting poetry..what a master of words and love and mystery. I'm glad I discovered him. I could read this over and over. And it's the perfect size for carrying around.

It's really hard to review this one, so here are some favorites LOVE IS A FIRELove is a fireIt burns everyoneIt disfigures everyoneIt is the world's excuse for being ugly.*******************************************LOVE ITSELF for L.W.The light came through the windowStraight from the sun aboveAnd so inside my little roomThere plunged the rays of Love.In streams of light I clearly sawThe dust you seldom see,Out of which the Nameless makesA Name for one like me.I'll try to say a little more:Love

RIP Leonard Cohen....Although I admit to liking his music more than his poetry, I love that this little volume of Everyman's Library Pocket Poets was published in 2011. These little 8X6 books are great introductions to poetry and in this case lyrics, for those of us who don't read much of this genre. I spent the weekend re-reading my favorite lyrics and listening to my favorite Cohen tunes. Besides the originals there are many great covers of his songs. One of my first guitar lessons ( 1970's

Cohens poetry and songs have simple rhyming that make each piece actually sound poetic, not just because the words rhyme but because of his word choice. His themes incorporate theology and love, and each poem and song is a solid example of what you do with poetry.
