Forward the Foundation (Foundation (Publication Order) #7)
This is actually the second prequel to the Foundation Trilogy, and the last book Asimov wrote (see the Author's note in Prelude to Foundation for the chronology of the series vs. when actually penned). As I read 'Prelude' first, and got accustomed to the later writing style of Asimov before getting to the Foundation Trilogy, it was easy for me to rejoin Hari, Dors, and Raych. The book is separated in sections by character focus, similar to others of the series. Each section jumps forward in time,
Finally! The last published Foundation book, written by Asimov (a few more titles written by other authors were published subsequently). My review of the first Foundation book was posted in 2014, as I write it is March 2019, so I feel a nice sense of accomplishment for completing a series review five years in the making. Forward the Foundation is the second prequel to the classic original Foundation Trilogy (that makes it a sequel to a prequel! Prelude to Foundation that is). It is set on
I've always loved the clarity and humor of Asimov's science articles, but I've never been a fan of his fiction, and this book points up why. Asimov in his last published work takes his readers on an introspective journey of not just a revered character in his Foundation universe but seemingly of the author himself looking back on his own life as one of the grandfathers of modern Sci-fi. Interesting to compare the authors character writing in the original Foundation works in which they only really serve to advance the plot at various stages they are hardily more than their job descriptions.
